Muhammad Ali Khan from management sciences has organized an event invited Miss Samia Qamar (Director People, S&P Global) Mr. Shoaib Farooqi (Manager at Al-Masood Energy), and Mr. Danish Nadeem (Entrepreneur) from the industry in a fireside chat session which was moderated by Dr. Shazia Akhter (PM-MBA) on the topic “Gender Empowerment and the future of work”. The term “Empowerment” was the subject of much discussion, despite its narrow definition in the modern context. It can be viewed as a means by which individuals, particularly women, can gain and exercise control over how they make decisions or oppose the decisions made about them by others. The panelist also tied it to broader shifts in society, the economy, and technology, thereby setting the stage for businesses to prepare for and adapt to the impact of these changes in the workplace. The students took an active role by asking questions of the authorities. The takeaway message was that governments, businesses, and individuals face complex challenges as they try to address issues of gender empowerment and predict the future of work in the face of unexpected drivers of change.
