MS (Project Management)

SZABIST (Islamabad) university is an HEC recognized university which is considered as a top university in Islamabad for its management programs. SZABIST (Islamabad) is considered as one of the best universities in Islamabad which offers an MS Degree (Equivalent to M. Phil) in Project Management. The objective of this program is to provide research-based project management education related to students’ fields of interest. SZABIST Islamabad provides the requisite skills and knowledge to its students, as this program paves the way to pursue doctoral studies.

SZABIST Islamabad has recognized that concentrated studies are a challenge for working professionals during regular weekdays therefore SZABIST Islamabad has designed MS in Project Management as a weekend program. The classes are offered on (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) OR (Saturday and Sunday).

There are two academic streams available for MSPM in SZABIST Islamabad. The students are required to complete 8 courses and 2 Independent Research Studies (IRS), or a thesis, with a total of 30 credit hours as a part of Research based stream. Alternatively, students may opt for 30 credit hours of Coursework based stream by taking only 10 courses.

At the successful completion of the program requirements, students are awarded an MS Degree (Equivalent to M. Phil). MS (Project Management) is a best management program offered by SZABIST Islamabad as a top university in Islamabad and will continue to facilitate its students with the finest combination of teaching facility and learning environment.

The maximum time limit to complete the MS degree is four years.

Entry Requirements
Eligibility
  • All the candidates with 16 years of education (with minimum 55% marks) from an HEC recognized university will be eligible to take admission in this program. MSPM students are also required to pass GAT General/HAT with minimum 50% score.

Degree Requirements

  • Completed 30 credit hours.
  • Maintained minimum CGPA 2.75.
  • Completed core, compulsory, elective courses and Independent Studies (as applicable to a program).

Admission Test and Interview

All candidates need to clear the admission test and interview to qualify for admission.
Candidates with non-business undergraduate degrees are encouraged to start in our MPM program and then transfer to MS(PM) program under the “MPM-MS(PM) bridge track”.
Financial Assistance in the form of Teaching/ Research Associate ship is available to needy and meritorious students subject to availability. Candidates should apply early.

Course Curriculum

SZABIST offers MS in Project Management (MSPM) program which is equivalent to MPhil. The
program lays the foundation for students who are planning to pursue doctoral studies. This program
offers two streams for MSPM. The first stream is coursework-based and the second is research-based.
In either stream, students are required to complete 30 credit hours. The maximum time limit to
complete the MSPM degree is four years and the minimum time to complete is 1.5/2 years. All MSPM
students are required to clear GRE, GAT General test, or HAT relevant with a minimum 50% score

  • Five compulsory courses (15 credit hours)
  • Five elective courses (15 credit hours)

Research Based Stream

  • Five compulsory courses (15 credit hours)
  • Three elective courses (09 credit hours)
  • Two Independent Research Studies (6 credit hours)
  • OR Thesis (6 credit hours)

*Thesis may be taken in place of IRS-I & IRS-II. Independent Research Study(IRS-I & II) can be opted

in one semester simultaneously. However, thesis must be registered in two different semesters, for three credit hours each. Thesis can start only after 24 credit hours have been completed. Students cannot register in Independent Research Study (IRS) or Thesis without completion of Research Methodology and Quantitative Tools for Research.

Regular course load for the program is 3+4+3 courses. Summer is not a regular semester. Therefore, courses are not offered on a regular basis in summer.

All courses may not be offered in every semester. Elective courses may vary from time to time. Alternative courses may be substituted as and when required.

 

MS (Project Management) Bridge Arrangement

This arrangement allows MPM graduates to enhance their academic qualification. For MPM graduates, a maximum of six courses can be transferred to MSPM program; subject to passing the courses with a minimum 2.75 grade points and on surrendering the MPM degree. Project and Software Tools for Project Management are not transferrable towards MSPM degree completion requirements for MPM graduates.
