Students of MS Development Studies (MSDS) and BS Social Sciences from SZABIST University Islamabad participated in an educational visit to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) during the Disaster Early Warning Tech Expo (DEW-TE)
The visit provided students with hands-on exposure to Pakistan’s disaster risk management framework and cutting-edge early warning and climate-technology innovations. Participants explored the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI), geospatial technologies, and data-driven solutions in disaster preparedness, risk reduction, and climate resilience.
Through interactive demonstrations and expert briefings, students gained valuable insights into:
- National disaster management and coordination mechanisms
- Early warning systems and emergency response technologies
- Climate-tech innovations for disaster risk reduction
- Practical applications of AI and geospatial tools in disaster management
The visit was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Abdul Razzaq Khan, Program Manager MS Development Studies, along with Ms. Fatima Bashir, Student Affairs, ensuring academic relevance and meaningful engagement throughout the activity.
This initiative successfully bridged classroom learning with real-world practice, enhancing students’ understanding of disaster governance, climate resilience, and technology-driven risk management. The visit reflects SZABIST Islamabad’s commitment to experiential learning, interdisciplinary education, and preparing students to address contemporary global challenges.
