On August 21, 2024, the Department of Management Sciences at SZABIST University Islamabad conducted a focused Digital Teaching Practices Workshop SZABIST Islamabad, under its Faculty Development Initiative. The session was designed to strengthen the teaching capabilities of faculty and staff by introducing modern digital tools and practices in education.
Led by Dr. Muhammad Faisal, Assistant Professor in the Management Sciences Department, the workshop emphasized the integration of Google Workspace tools into daily teaching practices. The goal of the Digital Teaching Practices Workshop SZABIST Islamabad was to build educators’ confidence in using digital platforms for assessments, feedback, and classroom engagement.
The workshop took place in Lab-3, creating an interactive and hands-on learning environment. Faculty members were introduced to applications such as Google Classroom, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Forms. These tools were presented as part of a cohesive digital teaching strategy designed to support collaboration, streamline assignment management, and simplify student evaluation.
Throughout the Digital Teaching Workshop SZABIST Islamabad, participants engaged in practical activities, including setting up digital classrooms, designing online assessments, and testing real-time feedback mechanisms. The session also addressed common challenges faced during online and hybrid teaching, offering solutions through effective digital pedagogy.
A key focus of the workshop was on creating effective digital assessments. Educators learned how to develop quizzes and assignments using Google Forms and how to manage digital submissions efficiently. Feedback strategies were also discussed, highlighting how Google tools can be used to offer timely, constructive responses to student work.
The faculty expressed a high level of satisfaction with the Digital Teaching Practices Workshop SZABIST Islamabad, noting that it provided them with immediately applicable skills. The practical format helped participants translate knowledge into action during the training itself.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Muhammad Asif, Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, commended the efforts of Dr. Muhammad Faisal and appreciated the faculty’s engagement with the session. He emphasized the university’s continued support for digital teaching innovation.
