The Way Forward; SZABIST (Islamabad) Signs MoU with Project Management Institute

Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science & Technology, Islamabad took a giant step forward on Friday June 3rd, 2016 towards enhancing the Project Management program by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Project Management Institute Islamabad Chapter Pakistan (PMI-IPC) for promoting and patronizing cooperation, mutual exchange of views and information, improvement of research and academic programs concerning Project Management, and also exchange of experts and researchers.

PMI Islamabad Pakistan Chapter (PMI-IPC) is the founding chapter in the country with over 150 members and partners and is the primary choice for Project Management Professionals, organizations and aspirants for development and advancement of the Project Management profession in the region.

The MoU was signed by Mr. Khusro Pervaiz Khan (Head of Campus) on behalf of SZABIST Islamabad and Mr. Naeem Iqbal on behalf of Project Management Institute Islamabad Chapter Pakistan in the presence of Head of Department (Department of Management Sciences) Mr. Amir Riaz Qureshi and Program Manager (Project Management Program) Mr. Ahmed Aslam.

The MoU broadly aims at development of bilateral cooperation between SZABIST and PMI in the field of Project Management. Through this MoU, both the parties will benefit from mutual partnership whilst promoting project management awareness in the community and will serve as a forward step to collaborate with academia to nourish professionals as well as a project management practices. PMI-IPC shall deliver bi-annually presentations to the new students enrolling in the said discipline.

Both parties agreed to formulate a joint research group where PMI-IPC shall support in arranging research opportunities on real projects and SZABIST shall provide students/professors to conduct research. The strategic partnership is expected to be a way forward in bridging the gap between industry and academia.
