SZABIST University Islamabad participated in the seminar “A Treaty in Turbulence: Indus Waters Treaty, Hydro-Diplomacy and Regional Peace,” organized by the Strategic Development Policy Institute (SDPI) and held in Islamabad. The seminar provided an important platform for discussing emerging challenges related to water governance, regional stability, and Pakistan’s water security.

The seminar brought together experts and participants to examine key issues surrounding the Indus Waters Treaty, with discussions focusing on water security, climate resilience, transboundary water governance, hydro-diplomacy, and their implications for regional peace.

Representing SZABIST Islamabad were Mr. Hasher Hanif, Mr. Ahmad Raza Ali, and Dr. Muhammad Daniel Pirzada, Faculty Advisor of the Environment & Climate Change Society. Their participation provided an opportunity to engage with experts and gain broader perspectives on critical environmental and geopolitical issues affecting Pakistan and the region.

The discussions offered valuable insights into the evolving dynamics of Pakistan’s hydro-diplomacy and the challenges posed by increasing water stress, climate change, and transboundary water management. The seminar also highlighted the importance of informed dialogue, research, and collaborative approaches in addressing complex regional water security concerns.

SZABIST Islamabad’s participation reflects its commitment to encouraging students and faculty to engage with contemporary environmental, policy, and regional issues beyond the classroom.
