As part of its faculty development and inter-campus collaboration initiative, SZABIST University Islamabad faculty successfully conducted a two-day workshop series at SZABIST Larkana.

Day 1 of the workshop was led by Prof. Dr. Shazia Akhtar, Head of Department, Management Sciences, who is widely recognized for her dynamic leadership and mentoring approach. Her session, titled “Securing an HEC Research Project Grant,” provided faculty members with practical and strategic guidance on developing competitive research proposals.

The session covered key areas including:

• Essential components of a strong HEC research proposal
• Highlighting novelty, innovation, and societal impact in grant applications
• Common proposal weaknesses that lead to rejection and effective strategies to avoid them
• The role of collaboration, institutional support, and stakeholder engagement in successful research funding

Faculty members from Management Sciences, Computer Sciences, and other academic departments actively participated in the session, contributing to thoughtful discussions and knowledge sharing. The interactive nature of the workshop fostered collaboration, clarity, and confidence among participants regarding research grant applications.

This initiative reflects SZABIST’s commitment to strengthening research capacity, promoting academic collaboration across campuses, and enhancing faculty development through structured and outcome-oriented learning opportunities.
