Students of BBA–7 at SZABIST University Islamabad participated in an engaging simulated focus group discussion on “The Future of Digital Privacy” under the supervision of Dr. Khansa Zaman. The activity was designed as an experiential learning exercise to deepen students’ understanding of digital ethics and contemporary business challenges.

The structured simulation featured one moderator and four discussants, each presenting a distinct perspective: pro-digital privacy, pro-innovation, neutral, and futurist. This format encouraged balanced dialogue and critical evaluation of multiple viewpoints surrounding digital privacy in an increasingly technology-driven environment.

During the discussion, students examined how emerging technologies continue to reshape digital lives and amplify concerns regarding personal data protection. Key themes included data misuse, surveillance practices, organizational responsibility, and the ethical trade-offs between technological innovation and user privacy. Participants reflected on how automated systems enhance efficiency and convenience, yet often struggle to fully safeguard sensitive information—highlighting privacy as a fundamental component of digital ethics.

The simulated focus group fostered critical thinking, collaboration, and meaningful academic dialogue. It provided students with practical insight into real-world digital governance challenges while strengthening their analytical and ethical decision-making skills.

The activity also aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), reinforcing SZABIST Islamabad’s commitment to experiential, future-focused education.
