Welcoming the New Year 2026 with an innovative learning approach, the Department of Management Sciences at SZABIST University Islamabad organized a hands-on, team-based Experiential Learning Activity in the form of a Sandwich Making Competition for MBA and EMBA students on Friday, 02 January 2026.

Conducted under the supervision of Mr. Syed Shahwar Hussain as part of the Marketing Management course, the activity aimed to provide students with a practical understanding of core marketing concepts, particularly the 4Ps of Marketing — Product, Price, Place, and Promotion.

Working in teams, students conceptualized their sandwiches as marketable products by making strategic decisions related to product design, differentiation, pricing strategies, target market selection, and promotional messaging. Participants evaluated ingredient quality, presentation, branding, and customer value while calculating per-unit costs, considering fixed and variable expenses, and setting competitive prices.

The exercise emphasized integrated marketing thinking, encouraging students to align product features with pricing and promotional strategies. By simulating real-world business constraints, the activity enhanced students’ creativity, collaboration, and strategic decision-making skills.

Overall, the competition successfully bridged the gap between marketing theory and practice, providing MBA and EMBA students with a holistic understanding of how marketing decisions are interconnected and executed in real business environments.
