Students of BBA–7 at SZABIST University, Islamabad Campus, participated in an interactive and thought-provoking simulated focus group discussion on the theme “The Future of Digital Privacy.” The experiential learning activity was conducted under the academic supervision of Dr. Khansa Zaman as part of applied learning in business and digital ethics.

The simulation featured a structured focus group format, comprising one moderator and four discussants, each representing a distinct perspective: pro-digital privacy, pro-innovation, neutral, and futurist. This diverse representation encouraged balanced discussion and enabled students to critically examine multiple dimensions of digital privacy in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

During the session, students explored how emerging technologies are reshaping digital lives and increasing concerns around personal data protection. Key issues such as data misuse, digital surveillance, ethical responsibilities of organizations, and the trade-off between innovation and privacy were actively debated. Students reflected on real-world examples, noting that while automated systems enhance efficiency and convenience, they often pose serious challenges to safeguarding sensitive information—reinforcing the importance of privacy as a core element of digital ethics.

The simulated focus group fostered critical thinking, collaboration, analytical reasoning, and ethical awareness among students. It also strengthened their understanding of real-world policy and business challenges related to technology governance and responsible innovation.

The activity demonstrated strong alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), highlighting SZABIST Islamabad’s commitment to experiential learning and future-ready education.
