As part of its commitment to experiential and interdisciplinary learning, the Department of Social Sciences at SZABIST University Islamabad organized an academic field visit to Taxila for students enrolled in the Culture, Arts & Society course.
The visit offered students a firsthand learning experience at one of Pakistan’s most significant archaeological and historical sites. Students explored the Taxila Museum and major archaeological remains, closely examining Gandhara art, architectural patterns, and material evidence that reflects cultural interaction among the Greek, Mauryan, and Kushan civilizations.
To reinforce learning outcomes, the activity extended beyond the field visit through structured academic report writing and classroom presentations. This enabled students to critically analyze their observations and effectively link theoretical concepts discussed in class with historical and cultural realities observed on site.
Conducted under the academic supervision of Ms. Asma Javed, the field visit highlighted the importance of hands-on, field-based learning in developing critical thinking, cultural awareness, and historical understanding. Such initiatives reflect SZABIST Islamabad’s strong focus on practice-oriented education and its commitment to promoting informed engagement with Pakistan’s rich cultural and civilizational heritage.
