SZABIST University Islamabad organized an informative session on Emerging Research Opportunities in Climate and Carbon Financing on October 20, 2025. Dr. Khalid Waleed, Research Fellow at the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), delivered the talk, while Dr. Shumaila Zeb, Associate Professor in the Department of Management Sciences, facilitated the session.

The session was designed for PhD scholars specializing in Finance. Dr. Waleed discussed the rising importance of climate finance, carbon markets, and sustainability-focused investment avenues. He explained how climate-related financial mechanisms and carbon credit systems are reshaping global and local economies.

Participants learned how these evolving frameworks can drive sustainable economic growth, especially in developing countries like Pakistan. The discussion helped scholars identify emerging research directions within climate finance and understand the expanding potential of carbon-related financial instruments.
