Educational Visit to Al-Maktoom National Special Education Centre for Visually Handicapped Children
On October 22, 2025, BS Psychology (Semester 1) students visited the Al-Maktoom National Special Education Centre for Visually Handicapped Children as part of their experiential learning program. Ms. Sana Mukhtar, Program Manager for BS Psychology and BS Social Sciences, organized and supervised the visit.
The trip gave students meaningful exposure to inclusive education environments. They observed the psychosocial, emotional, and academic needs of children with visual impairments and learned how specialized support enhances their growth.
Director Mr. Muhammad Amir and Social Welfare Officer Dr. Haroon briefed the students on assistive technologies, teaching strategies, and therapeutic interventions used to support children’s independence. Their insights helped students understand the practical side of developmental and educational psychology.
The experience also strengthened students’ awareness of key UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially:
SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being
SDG 4: Quality Education
SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
Such experiential learning activities build empathy, strengthen professional readiness, and inspire future psychologists to support inclusive and equitable development.
