The Role of Body Language in Communication | BBA OCPS Students x Ms. Farrah Khawaja
Under the expertise and guidance of Ms. Farrah Khawaja, Visiting Lecturer and Content Manager, our BBA OCPS students explored The Role of Body Language in Communication—a crucial component that often speaks louder than words.
Understanding body language is essential in both personal and professional settings. It helps build trust, reinforce spoken messages, and navigate difficult conversations with confidence and clarity.
During the session, students practiced and decoded key gestures and postures to better understand contextual meaning and professional presence.
Body Language Cues Covered:
Power Pose – boosts self-confidence and assertiveness
Open Hands – signals honesty and openness
Sustained Eye Contact – shows attentiveness and credibility
Relaxed Shoulders – reflects composure and calm
Steepling Fingers – conveys confidence and authority
Leaning Forward – expresses genuine interest
Crossed Arms – may indicate defensiveness or closed-off mindset
Hands Behind Back – suggests control or unease depending on context
Low-Value Poses (slouching, avoiding eye contact) – diminish presence and influence
The session encouraged students to reflect on how their non-verbal communication aligns with their spoken words, especially in interviews, presentations, and professional interactions.
