Students of MS Clinical Psychology and BS Psychology at SZABIST University Islamabad participated in an educational study visit to Mehram Shah Rehabilitation Center, gaining valuable exposure to professional practices in mental health care, psychological assessment, and rehabilitation services.
During the visit, the Chief Executive Officer of the rehabilitation center provided a comprehensive briefing on the institution’s mission, treatment programs, rehabilitation procedures, and the range of services offered to individuals seeking psychological and behavioral health support. The session enabled students to develop a deeper understanding of the role rehabilitation centers play in promoting mental well-being and recovery.
As part of the experiential learning activity, students had the opportunity to observe behavioral therapy sessions, allowing them to witness therapeutic techniques and interventions used in real clinical settings. They also observed psychological assessment procedures and psychotherapy sessions, providing practical insights into the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment processes followed by mental health professionals.
The study visit offered students firsthand exposure to the application of psychological theories and therapeutic approaches beyond the classroom. By interacting with practitioners and observing clinical procedures, participants were able to connect academic concepts with real-world mental health practices and develop a stronger understanding of client-centered care.
The experience significantly enhanced students’ knowledge of mental health assessment, psychotherapy, behavioral interventions, and rehabilitation services while strengthening their professional awareness and clinical observation skills.
Such experiential learning opportunities reflect SZABIST Islamabad’s commitment to providing practical education that prepares future psychologists and mental health professionals to contribute effectively to the well-being of individuals and communities.
