Celebrating Human Rights Day 2024 at SZABIST University Islamabad

The Department of Social Sciences, SZABIST University Islamabad, celebrated Human Rights Day on December 10, 2024, under the sub-theme “Remembering the Victims of Conflict.” The event was organized by Shaheed Bhutto Foundation, YFK-International Kashmir Lobby Group, and the Pakistan Mental Health Association (PMHA).

This year’s global theme, “Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now,” emphasized the universal importance of equality, justice, and dignity for all, organized by Dr. Abdul Razzaq Khan, Program Manager of Development Studies.
The distinguished speakers included:

• Mushaal Hussein Mullick, wife of jailed Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Mohammad Yasin Malik and Chairperson, Peace and Culture Organisation
• Dr. Shazia Aslam Soomro, MNA, PPP
• Mr. Rana Qasim Noon, Chairman, Kashmir Committee
• Senator Hajer Rabia Pasha, Executive Director, Pakistan

Dr. Tariq Waheed, Head of the Department of Social Sciences, warmly welcomed the esteemed guests, participants, and speakers on behalf of SZABIST University Islamabad. He also highlighted the significance of the United Nations’ Charter of Human Rights.

The event witnessed an overwhelming participation reflecting a collective commitment to advocating for human rights and remembering those affected by conflicts worldwide.
