Islamabad, October , 2026: SZABIST University Islamabad organized an interactive guest session for students of the Master of Science in Project Management (MSPM) and Master of Project Management (MPM) programs on the topic “Adaptive Management: Using M&E Data to Change and Improve a Development Project.”
The session was conducted by Mr. Shiraz Ashraf, Former Senior Advisor at USAID, Washington, D.C., who shared valuable insights drawn from his 30 years of international experience in the development sector. His discussion focused on the importance of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) data in strengthening project management practices and improving development outcomes.
During the session, Mr. Ashraf explained how monitoring and evaluation data can help project managers identify implementation challenges, assess project progress, make informed decisions, and introduce necessary improvements. He highlighted the importance of using reliable evidence to evaluate project performance and respond effectively to changing circumstances.
Through practical examples and real-world experiences, students gained a deeper understanding of how evidence-based decision-making and adaptive management can contribute to effective project implementation. The discussion demonstrated how project managers can use M&E findings to adjust strategies, address emerging challenges, and achieve better results in development projects.
The session was organized by Dr. Shaheryar Naveed, providing MSPM and MPM students with an opportunity to connect their academic knowledge with professional practices and gain perspectives from an experienced development-sector professional.
