On September 18, SZABIST Islamabad organized an interactive session on “Road Safety and Community Policing.” The event brought together students, faculty, and experts to discuss strategies for safer roads and stronger community engagement.

Two distinguished speakers led the session — Capt. (R) Hamza Hamyun, Chief Traffic Officer, Islamabad Traffic Police, and Ms. Aisha Jamil, Station Director, FM Radio Traffic Division. They shared practical insights on safe driving, public participation in policing, and the importance of collective responsibility.

Both highlighted the vital role of student volunteers in supporting the Islamabad Traffic Police, particularly through the Friends of Police Program. CTO Hamza Hamyun appreciated SZABIST students’ contributions and assured continued support from the ICT Police for student learning and engagement initiatives.

Adding to the discussion, Mr. Khusro Pervaiz Khan, Head of Campus, emphasized following traffic rules and promoting volunteerism to create a safety-conscious community.

The event was successfully organized by Ms. Sana Mukhtar, Program Manager (BSSS/BS Psychology), Department of Social Sciences.
