SUMMARY:SZABIST International Relations Students Serve as Chairs at Gen Alpha Model UN 2026
DESCRIPTION:Islamabad\, October\, 2026: Students of International Relations at SZABIST University Islamabad Campus\, Yawar Hameed and Luqman Sumro\, served as Committee Chairs at the Gen Alpha Model United Nations (MUN)\, hosted by Roots Wellington Campus\, H-8\, Islamabad. \nDrawing on their academic knowledge of diplomacy\, foreign policy\, and international conflict resolution\, both students contributed to creating an engaging and structured conference environment. As Committee Chairs\, they guided young delegates through parliamentary procedures\, facilitated debates on pressing global issues\, and maintained diplomatic decorum throughout the conference. \nBeyond managing committee proceedings\, Yawar Hameed and Luqman Sumro actively mentored participants by translating key International Relations concepts into practical learning experiences. They encouraged delegates to engage in policy analysis\, strategic negotiation\, and consensus-building while developing a deeper understanding of diplomatic processes. \nTheir participation provided a valuable connection between university-level academic learning and school-level experiential education. Through their guidance\, delegates had opportunities to strengthen essential skills\, including public speaking\, critical thinking\, negotiation\, and collaborative decision-making. \nThe engagement also demonstrated how students can apply their academic knowledge beyond the classroom while contributing to the learning and development of younger participants. Their involvement encouraged intellectual curiosity\, diplomatic awareness\, and leadership among aspiring young delegates. \nThis collaboration reflects SZABIST University’s commitment to promoting student leadership\, academic outreach\, and practical learning opportunities. By engaging with educational initiatives such as Model United Nations\, the University continues to support the development of future leaders equipped with communication\, analytical\, and diplomatic skills.

SUMMARY:Social Sciences Freshmen Participate in Roleplay and Simulation Activity at SZABIST Islamabad
DESCRIPTION:Islamabad: The Department of Social Sciences at SZABIST University Islamabad Campus organized an interactive Roleplay and Simulation Activity for first-semester students\, providing them with an opportunity to explore real-world social challenges through practical and interdisciplinary learning. \nDuring the activity\, students stepped into the roles of diplomats\, policymakers\, grassroots activists\, and community leaders to examine complex social issues and explore possible solutions. The simulation encouraged participants to approach different scenarios from multiple perspectives while developing a deeper understanding of social challenges and their wider implications. \nThe activity focused on strengthening essential academic and interpersonal skills\, including confidence\, public speaking\, active listening\, critical thinking\, empathy\, and decision-making. By engaging in realistic scenarios\, students gained an opportunity to move beyond theoretical learning and apply their classroom knowledge to practical situations. \nThe interdisciplinary activity connected three key areas of Social Sciences: \n\n\n\n\nPsychology: Students explored human behaviour\, social regulation\, stigma\, and mental health dynamics\, highlighting the importance of empathy and community well-being in addressing social challenges. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nEconomics: Students examined resource constraints\, market access\, and structural inequalities while considering practical approaches to sustainable livelihoods and economic development. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nInternational Relations: Students explored institutional power\, diplomacy\, negotiation\, and governance frameworks to understand how complex social and global challenges can be addressed. \n\n\n\n\nThe activity also highlighted the connection between interdisciplinary learning and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)\, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being)\, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth)\, SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities)\, and SDG 16 (Peace\, Justice and Strong Institutions). \nBy integrating Psychology\, Economics\, and International Relations from the beginning of their academic journey\, the initiative encouraged students to develop analytical abilities\, broaden their perspectives\, and build confidence in expressing their ideas. \nThrough such experiential learning opportunities\, SZABIST University Islamabad continues to promote interdisciplinary education and equip students with the knowledge\, practical skills\, and confidence needed to engage with real-world challenges and contribute positively to society.

SUMMARY:Development Studies Students Showcase Sustainable City Models at SZABIST Islamabad
DESCRIPTION:Islamabad: The Department of Social Sciences at SZABIST University Islamabad Campus organized a hands-on Urban Planning Classroom Activity for Development Studies students under the theme “Reimagining the Future: Sustainable Cities of Tomorrow.” The activity encouraged students to explore how cities can become economically viable\, socially equitable\, environmentally resilient\, and climate-smart. \nAs part of the exercise\, students designed and presented models of sustainable cities\, applying development theories and policy concepts to address real-world urban challenges. Their projects explored issues such as informal settlements\, transit-oriented development\, green infrastructure\, and the integration of renewable energy systems. \nThe interactive activity focused on three key dimensions of sustainable urban development: \n\n\n\n\nEnvironmental Resilience and Climate Adaptation: Students explored low-emission transportation networks\, waste-to-energy systems\, and urban green belts to reduce environmental pressures and address climate-related risks. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nSocial Inclusion and Spatial Justice: The models addressed housing affordability\, spatial segregation\, and accessible public spaces\, highlighting the importance of inclusive urban development. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nResource Governance and Infrastructure: Students examined sustainable approaches to managing growing urban populations through efficient water\, sanitation\, and energy distribution systems. \n\n\n\n\nThe exercise enabled students to connect theoretical knowledge with practical spatial and policy design. It also encouraged critical thinking\, problem-solving\, and an understanding of the interconnected challenges associated with rapid urbanization. \nThrough such experiential learning initiatives\, SZABIST University Islamabad continues to promote practical and interdisciplinary education\, encouraging students to develop innovative approaches to development challenges and contribute towards more sustainable communities.
