The visit was organized to provide students with exposure to innovative learning environments\, emerging technologies\, and global educational opportunities. The activity was conducted under the supervision of Saba Butt\, who encouraged students to actively engage in the diverse learning experiences offered at the center. \nLincoln Corner Islamabad\, established through a collaboration between the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan and the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan\, serves as a hub for education\, innovation\, leadership development\, entrepreneurship\, and cross-cultural learning. During the visit\, students explored a variety of educational resources\, digital learning platforms\, and youth engagement initiatives designed to support academic and professional growth. \nA major highlight of the visit was an immersive Virtual Reality (VR) experience\, where students interacted with emerging technologies by creating two-dimensional objects and visualizing them within a three-dimensional environment. SUMMARY:SZABIST Media Studies Students Visit PTV News Centre Islamabad for Practical Media Exposure
DESCRIPTION:Students of the Bachelor of Science in Media Studies (BSMS) Semester-II from the Department of Media Studies at SZABIST University Islamabad participated in an educational visit to Pakistan Television News Centre as part of their academic and professional development activities. The visit provided students with valuable industry exposure and an opportunity to observe the workings of Pakistan’s national broadcaster firsthand. \nUpon arrival\, students were welcomed by PTV officials and received a comprehensive briefing on the history\, evolution\, and organizational structure of Pakistan Television. The session highlighted the significant role of PTV in informing\, educating\, and connecting audiences across the country while providing students with insights into the evolution of Pakistan’s media industry. \nDuring the visit\, students toured the television studios and witnessed live news transmission in action. They also observed the live broadcast of PTV’s flagship morning show\, World This Morning\, gaining firsthand experience of live television production and presentation. The students had the opportunity to interact with the program’s hosts and learn about the preparation\, coordination\, and execution required for successful live broadcasts. \nThe learning experience continued with a visit to the newsroom\, where media professionals provided detailed insights into the processes of news gathering\, script writing\, editing\, content verification\, and rundown preparation. Students learned how news stories are developed\, managed\, and coordinated before being aired to the public. \nAs part of the tour\, participants also visited the editing suites and the Master Control Room (MCR)\, where they observed the technical aspects of television broadcasting\, transmission management\, and live production control. These sessions offered students a practical understanding of the technology and teamwork involved in delivering high-quality broadcast content. \nStudents described the visit as highly informative\, engaging\, and professionally enriching. For many participants\, it was their first opportunity to witness the complete workflow of a professional television news organization and interact directly with industry practitioners. \nThe field visit successfully bridged the gap between classroom learning and real-world media practices\, providing students with practical insights into journalism\, broadcasting\, television production\, and newsroom management while preparing them for future careers in the media industry.
