DESCRIPTION:During the COVID-19\, SZABIST is trying to deliver the best to its students by using the latest available ICT tools. The faculty is taking every measure to provide the best knowledge at students’ doorstep. Keeping this in view an online guest speaker session was arranged by Mr. Muhammad Irfan Kasana for the students of Financial Risk Analysis BBA-255A on 25th April 2020. \nMr. Muhammad Shahzeb\, A certified FRM professional was the guest speaker. He is currently working as Senior Manager ERM\, Strategy and Corp. Affairs at 1LINK (Pvt) Ltd. Before joining 1Link\, he served PMEX at different levels including Chief Risk Officer (CRO). \nMr. Shahzeb has expertise in the development and implementation of Risk Models. He shared his experience with the students. The session was remained highly interactive.

DESCRIPTION:1st March\, 2020 \nA Welcome party was arranged on 1st march 2020 at Islamabad Club\, Banquet hall for the students of EMBA/PMBA/MHRM programs of Szabist Islamabad. The event proved to be a huge success as a large number of students participated in the event. \nThe students were really enthusiastic and took an active part in various activities arranged by the senior students. They won prizes for their talent displayed in the form of poetry\, singing competition\, sharing of their passions and useful career tips for the audience. \nThe party ended with a vote of thanks by the Program manager Dr.Shazia Akhtar to the top administration of Szabist\, Islamabad for providing such a progressive and enabling environment where all co-curricular and extracurricular activities are encouraged and supported leading to the overall personality development of the Executive students. Moreover\, she thanked all the students for actively participating in the event and gave special appreciation to the organizing students Ms. Sadaf Noor and Mr. Ghulam Anbia Madni for their untiring efforts in arranging such a wonderful evening. \nThese kinds of activities improve the morale and ownership of the professional students who can become the brand ambassadors’ for the Executive weekend programs and spread a positive Word of Mouth and image of the university amongst other stakeholders including industry\, academia and corporate sectors which will enhance the outreach of EMBA/PMBA/MHRM programs in future. \n  \n \nEvent Gallery

DESCRIPTION:Two day training Workshop on “Cognitive Behavioral Therapy” was conducted at the National Institute of Psychology Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad on 27th& 28th February 2020 by DR. SYEDA RAZIA BUKHARI (Consultant Clinical Psychologist) Assistant Professor & Student Counselor. \nThe main objectives of this workshop are to learn the fundamentals of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) for depression through an experiential workshop. Participants will learn how to conceptualize depressed clients\, plan treatment based on an individualized conceptualization\, establish the therapeutic relationship\, instill hope\, and use effective cognitive and behavioral strategies to motivate clients to complete homework\, modify their maladaptive thinking and behavior\, and solve problems on their own. Learn how to elicit and respond to clients’ feedback\, measure progress\, and prevent relapse.

SUMMARY:Clean Green Walk
DESCRIPTION:CLEAN GREEN WALK – 2020 \n  \nSZABIST\, Islamabad strives and motivates its students to be responsible citizens towards the environment and its society.  In order to familiarize students with the sensitivity of the current environmental issues\, ‘CLEAN GREEN WALK’ was organized on 26th Feb\, 2020 with an aim to link the impact of different sociological factors on our environment. \nStudents of (BS-AF) and Faculty of Management Sciences participated in this walk for raising awareness regarding this issue.  Students made a number of banners based on following messages while participating in this walk e.g. plant more trees\, walk more\, drive less\, maintain clean and green vehicles\, save water\, save energy\, recycle and reuse\, save animals and keep the environment and surrounding clean be a corporate citizen. \nMr. Syed Shahwar shared his views regarding the essence of the environment and how students can play an active role in dealing with such issues. The faculty member reminded the students that everyone should involve green practice to her daily life to reduce environmental issues existing in the world\, such as climate change and air pollution especially with the growing influence of science in our daily lives. \nStudents accompanied by their faculty member Mr. Syed Shahwar Hussain initiated this cleanness drive at Salina Park Islamabad’. Most of them carried wastepaper bin bags along with them and cleaned the route as well. The campaign served as a moral reminder to the students on campus and the community as a whole to play an active role in protecting and keep their environment clean and green.

SUMMARY:Shehr-e-Tabassum
DESCRIPTION:Social Sciences department organized a screening of an Urdu animated/hand-painted short movie ‘Shehr-e-Tabassum’ set in 2071. \nThis movie has been successfully toured England during January\, visiting universities like Cambridge\, Oxford\, King’s\, and are now touring within Pakistan. \nThe movie was aimed at the understanding of political and social imbalance\, focusing on a terrifying look at what the country’s future might hold if we don’t take courage to fight for our rights and betterment of the coming generation. \nThe session was enlightening and thought-provoking for youth. All of the attendees appreciated the efforts and hard work of team Shehr-e-Tabassum.

SUMMARY:Inter-University Debate competition
DESCRIPTION:Inter-university debate competition was organized between students of SZABIST Islamabad and FAST University on 15th February\, 2020. The topic of discussion in this debate competition was ‘The positive and negative impact of collectivism on Pakistan’. SZABIST Students discussed the positive impacts\, while students from FAST university discussed the negative impacts of collectivism on Pakistan. \nMr. Taqi Jawad and Mr. Syed Athar Shah were the judges of the event. At the end of the session\, judges decided the winning team\, as well as the participants\, who stood first\, second and third in this competition. Students from SZABIST Islamabad won this debate competition. Mustaghees Irfan from the management sciences department stood first in this competition.

The purpose of this event was to learn how to build different strategies in order to motivate people to work as an entrepreneur. DESCRIPTION: Student Advisory and Anti-Sexual Harassment Session \n\nA Student Advisory and Anti- Harassment session for BBA-1& 2 was held on 28th January 2020 at SZABIST Islamabad Campus. \n\nThe main objective of  session was to provide the students a channel for course-related communication and develop their understanding for code of ethics of SZABIST. \nDr Shumaila Zeb the Program Manager of BBA advised the students to maintain a professional demeanor and attend regularly the scheduled meetings with respective student counselor during their stay at campus. \n

SUMMARY:Orientation Program Spring 2020
DESCRIPTION:Orientation programs facilitate the successful transition of new students to SZABIST Islamabad. It helps prepare students for their academic experience\, promotes student involvement and engagement\, and provide information about student services and academic resources. \nOn 27th January 2020 SZABIST Islamabad’s New Student Orientation introduced new students of different programs to the wide array of academic\, intellectual\, leadership\, cultural\, and social experiences available at SZABIST. The learning outcomes of the freshmen orientation involved understanding the academic expectations and the process of enrollment\, utilization of academic support and student services\, learning about campus and community involvement through clubs\, organizations and developing relationships with students\, advisors\, faculty\, and staff.

SUMMARY:ZABTECH 2019
DESCRIPTION:Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering organized Intra University Speed Programming\, Poster designing and E-Gaming competition for BSSE and BSCS students. BS Software Engineering students won 1st and 3rd positions in the Speed Programming and all positions of poster designing. BSCS students secured 2nd position in Speed Programming and all positions in the E-Gaming competition. \nThe organizing committee of this wonderful competition includes Syed Muhammad Usman ( Program Manager BSSE) along with faculty members Ms. Sehresh Khan\, Mr. Usman Ali\, Ms. Maryam Sajjad\, Mr. Aamir Anwar\, Hafiz Ahmed Qasim and Mr. Muhammad Naveed.

SUMMARY:Field Trip to Stock Exchange
DESCRIPTION:On the 4th of December 2019\, students of the 5th semester of BBA were taken on an educational visit to the ISE (Islamabad Stock Exchange Towers) organized by their FMI Instructor Ms. Nayyab Javed. \nAt the beginning of the tour\, an insightful seminar with interactive and topical discussions on how modern markets work today was held by an expert trainer. The session highlighted various investment instruments and their pros and cons\, workings of the stock exchange and various rules and regulations of the Islamabad Stock Exchange and its alliance with the Pakistan Stock Exchange. After the seminar\, the students were taken to a room where digitized operations of the listings\, stock prices and company’s index were displayed on large screens; this gave an overview of the role of demand and supply in share prices. \nThe purpose of this visit was to engage the students in the practical application of the concepts taught in their classroom and bridge the barrier between academia and industry.

SUMMARY:3MT Competition
DESCRIPTION:Department of Computer Science SZABIST Islamabad successfully organized 3rd Inter-University Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition\, in which several research students participated from 15 universities of Rawalpindi\, Islamabad\, Taxila and Peshawar presented their research in a simple and concise way. \nFinal round on December 04\, 2019 was followed by Qualifying Rounds-1 and 2 where MS and PhD students from different universities presented their research work in just three minutes. The winners of the event are from Bahria University Islamabad\, SZABIST Islamabad and City University Peshawar.

SUMMARY:Industrial Trip to Coca-Cola
DESCRIPTION:A group of BBA students visited Coca-Cola Islamabad. The purpose of the visit was to provide students insights about the marketing initiatives from practitioners and organizational perspectives and strengthen SZABIST –Industry relationship for meaningful collaboration. \nMr. Muddasar Ghani Khwaja (Lecturer- Faculty of Management Sciences) arranged the visit. Students were given an orientation regarding consumer-centric operational endeavors of Coke by the Territory Trade Marketing Manager of Coca-Cola\, Islamabad. The understanding of the consumer psyche and effectively targeting the conscious and unconscious mind was thoroughly elaborated. \nThe students were delighted to experience a real-time interactive session with the industry partners\, keenly explored the dynamics of identifying and meeting consumer’s ever-changing demands and the compatible strategies that the organization is undertaking in the competitive market of beverage industry. The students were enthusiastic about the knowledge of the ever-changing demands of the consumers and what agility the firm needs to respond to the changing paradigm. \nThe visit provided new opportunities for SZABIST – Coca Cola for collaborative initiatives in the days for a meaningful academic and industry linkage for knowledge sharing and resolving business problems leveraging academia expertise.

SUMMARY:Workshop on SMART PLS
DESCRIPTION:The course of Advance Research Methods entails keeping abreast with latest techniques\, tools and methodologies in research. SZABIST-ISLAMABAD aways strives to keep students updated on contemporary techniques in advancement in tools and software for analysis of research. In continuation to have hands-on knowledge with workshops on APA and SPSS a workshop was arranged by the instructor of the course Dr. Faryal Razzaq to learn mediation and moderation through Structural Equation Modelling techniques using SMART PLS for MBA1- Day and MBA1- Eve. Dr. Muhammad Shafiq very kindly consented to conduct the workshop which was facilitated in full support by the respected HoD Dr. M Asif Khan. \nDr. Shafiq very professionally builds the required knowledge to use the Smart PLS software and explained and entertained students’ queries on how to report results of mediation and moderation. The workshop was concluded by the vote of thanks by the course instructor on behalf of the class.

DESCRIPTION:Department of Computer Science\, SZABIST Islamabad Campus organized 3rd Inter-University Computer Hardware Projects Exhibition and Competition (COMHEC 2019) on 30th November 2019. Students of BS(CS)\, BS(SE)\, BS(CE) and related disciplines from more than 25 universities participated in this event. \nCOMSATS University Islamabad and SZABIST jointly won the 1st prize\, two groups of Hamdard University won the second prize and City University Peshawar had won the 3rd prize. Winners were awarded cash prizes and participants received their certificates of participation.
