SUMMARY:SZABIST Islamabad Celebrated Cultural Diversity Day
DESCRIPTION:The Social Sciences Department celebrated under the supervision of Ms. Aliya Abdul Hayee (Program Manager BSSS) and Ms. Attieya Iqbal (Lecturer Anthropology) for creating understanding about the culturally diverse and peaceful environment for all. Students prepared and displayed their native cultural and sub-cultural thematic objects from Gilgit Baltistan\, Balochistan\, Khyber Pakhtoon khwa and Punjab. The event was inaugurated by the Head of Campus in the presence of the Social Sciences faculty.\n\n\nThis event helped the audience to recognize and respect “ways of being” that they necessarily do not own\, and interact with others to build bridges to trust respect\, and understanding across cultures.

DESCRIPTION:Students of BBA-6B conceived business ideas and developed business plans to transform their ideas into start-ups. Furthermore\, they developed their product prototypes and tested their products in real markets. The purpose of the project was to cultivate their business acumen\, develop enterprise skills and explore their career options. Not only did they gain valuable experience but some of the teams were able to make good sales as well.

DESCRIPTION:A seminar held on the topic “Financial regulation of Financial Intermediaries in Pakistan” for the class of BSAF-4 and BSAF-7 on Friday\, May 27th. Ms. Nayyab Javed supervised the event.  Mr. Tayyab Ali\, conducted the seminar who is the In-charge of the ABL verification desk and is involved in different dealings with SBP. \nIn conversation with the audience\, he elaborated on the role of the State Bank of Pakistan as the regulatory body- protector of public interest\, monitor of compliance with contractual obligations\, and more. Along with this\, the functions of the State Bank of Pakistan were also discussed which included issuer of currency\, last resort lender\, clearing house\, and more. He brought to the attention of the audience the ramification of the misuse of the State Bank of Pakistan’s power to issue currency with strict penalty costs. \nAlso\, how the State Banks further prevent misuse of currency amongst the public through currency updates.

DESCRIPTION:The students of the Department of Management Sciences BBA 6 B Social Advocacy & Community Service and Social Responsibility Club SZABIST Islamabad of Shifa International Hospital on 23rd May 2022. The visit was organized by Dr. Iffat Rasool Associate Professor SZABIST Islamabad.\nDr. Hameed Mumtaz Durrani Administrator of Shifa Foundation Community Health Centre (SFCHC)\, Shifa International Hospital / Shifa College of Medicine\, Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University\, Islamabad briefed the students about the role of the Shifa Foundation for community services.\nThis visit enabled the students to experience the activities of community-based organizations and integrate their experiential understanding and learning of Social Advocacy and Community Service with their final semester project.\nIn addition\, the students on the behalf of Social Responsibility Club SZABIST Islamabad donated the cash amount to the administration of the Shifa Foundation. The main objective of the donation was to develop a sense of social responsibility among the youth toward society.

SUMMARY:MBA Project simulations
DESCRIPTION:MBA Project simulations were held for the MBA students as a part of their semester-long project (Strategic Marketing) on Thursday\, June 27\, 2022\, under the supervision of Dr. Arusa Khalid. \nThe simulation can be very time-constrained\, and solutions and strategies need to be rushed\, making it more entertaining. On the other hand\, it allows for a lot of creativity and going off-script\, as the instructor manages the simulation and can modify conditions to make it even more realistic. Students welcomed their evaluators\, Dr. Saqib Mehmood and Dr. Zoya Wajid\, and explained their project ideas. The evaluators provided students with valuable suggestions.

On the graduation day ceremony\, students are awarded academic degrees and they are being praised and appreciated for more success ahead. \nSZABIST Islamabad memorialized its 12th Convocation ceremony on May 18th\, 2022 at Pak China Friendship Center. Where the live coverage of the event took place on a social media platform and FM Radio 106.6 managed to broadcast the live event. A total of 673 students were awarded Bachelor’s\, Master’s\, and Doctoral degrees. \nMadam Chancellor Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho declared the opening of the convocation ceremony which was followed by the National Anthem and recitation of the Holy Quran.  Senator Sherry Rehman (the Federal Minister of Climate Change) was the chief guest of the ceremony. She along with the President Ms. Shehnaz Wazir Ali\, Vice President Academics Prof. Doc Altaf Mukati and Head of the Campus Mr. Khusro Pervaiz Khan presented the awards to the students and addressed the graduates with their heartwarming wishes. Academic medals were given to the high achievers of SZABIST Islamabad then the graduates took the oath which was administered by Madam President Shehnaz Wazir. DESCRIPTION:A study trip of BBA derivatives students was arranged under the supervision of Muhammad Irfan Kasana to the leading commodity brokerage houses of the Pakistan Mercantile Exchange situated in ISE Towers Islamabad. The students were enlightened with the mechanics of the derivatives industry by the industry experts. At first\, students visited ZLK Securities limited where Mr. Muhammad Hamza (Commodity Market Consultant) briefed the students about the market with a special focus on brokerage house operations and market dynamics. After this\, the students visited Enrichers Pvt Limited\, where Mr. Hassan Mehmood\, CEO of Enrichers welcomed the students. Mr. Hassan provides in-depth knowledge of the derivatives industry. He further briefed how one can start investing wisely in this market. Both presenters imparted practical knowledge to the students.

DESCRIPTION:As a part of MBA experiential learning activities a visit to Business Expo was organized by Ms. Uzma Shahryar. The experience of the visit to the business Expo was riveting\, exciting and educational. It began from the University at 3:30 p.m. Our students moved with confidence through the stalls\, making sure their all questions about business strategies are well answered from the different mangers who were representing their business with current trends and market strategies to the people around. This Expo was organized by Islamabad Chamber of small traders (ICSTSI) at Jinnah Convention Centre. The students learned how to keep up with latest market strategies .It was a great learning experience for the students\, here are some pictures from the event. \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:     \nOn 19th March 2022\, the MBA department conducted a skill-based\, experiential learning workshop on:  “How is Fintech reshaping the financial services ecosystem.” \nIt was the first workshop in MBA’s series of skill-based workshops- an idea fostered and headed by PM Prof.Dr. Shazia Akhtar.  Under the guidance of Ms. Saima Saleem the event was successfully executed. \nThe event was graced by trainer Dr. Badar Nadeem Ashraf. Dr. Badar is an Associate professor at Szabist Islamabad\, with prolific international exposure in China\, Sri Lanka\, and Qatar to name a few. He is an expert in the field of accounting\, finance\, eco-metrics\, private equity\, and venture capital. \nThe workshop gave an insight into how fintech has not only redefined the dynamics of economic order but is also thriving and robustly dominating the global stratosphere. While the rest of the world is swiftly adapting to the phenomenon of Fintech; yet\, it is still an alien concept to the masses of Pakistan. However\, the workshop intended to take a step in changing this prevalent narrative. \nThe fundamental concept of FinTech\, its economic\, socio-cultural\, and political implications\, and its future in Pakistan were some of the predominant themes of the session. \nIndeed the workshop served as an exclusive opportunity for our students to maneuver in the direction of adapting\, growing\, and excelling in the inevitable future of the digital financial system. \n  \n
