SUMMARY:MBA Students Visit to Business EXPO 2022
DESCRIPTION:As a part of MBA experiential learning activities a visit to Business Expo was organized by Ms. Uzma Shahryar. The experience of the visit to the business Expo was riveting\, exciting and educational. It began from the University at 3:30 p.m. Our students moved with confidence through the stalls\, making sure their all questions about business strategies are well answered from the different mangers who were representing their business with current trends and market strategies to the people around. This Expo was organized by Islamabad Chamber of small traders (ICSTSI) at Jinnah Convention Centre. The students learned how to keep up with latest market strategies .It was a great learning experience for the students\, here are some pictures from the event. \n  \n

The objective of providing this platform to students was to develop their\nawareness of students for issues related to the environment and the remedies taken by\nthe Environmental agencies.

DESCRIPTION:SZABIST Dramatic Society arranged a session on Skincare and a free medical camp. The session was led by “Dr Nada”- Dermatologist and Skin Care Expert. She answered the students’ queries and gave them detail orientation about diet and daily food intake required for healthy skin. Her focus was also on the malpractices followed by youth today to beautify their skins and the harmful effect on overall health.\nMs. Sana Mukhtar- Lecturer Social Sciences concluded the session by awarding shield to the guest speaker.

DESCRIPTION:BS Social Sciences International Relations’ students visited Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) on 29th March \, 2022.\n      \n\n\nIPRI\, established in 1999\, is one of the oldest non-partisan think-tanks. It is affiliated with the National Security Division\, Government of Pakistan. As part of IPRI’s vision to include youth in the process of policy and governance along with think tanks\, a special briefing and interactive session was arranged. Overall activity was a great learning and progress opportunity for students.

SUMMARY:Experiential Learning Workshop on  “How is Fintech reshaping the financial services ecosystem.”
DESCRIPTION:     \nOn 19th March 2022\, the MBA department conducted a skill-based\, experiential learning workshop on:  “How is Fintech reshaping the financial services ecosystem.” \nIt was the first workshop in MBA’s series of skill-based workshops- an idea fostered and headed by PM Prof.Dr. Shazia Akhtar.  Under the guidance of Ms. Saima Saleem the event was successfully executed. \nThe event was graced by trainer Dr. Badar Nadeem Ashraf. Dr. Badar is an Associate professor at Szabist Islamabad\, with prolific international exposure in China\, Sri Lanka\, and Qatar to name a few. He is an expert in the field of accounting\, finance\, eco-metrics\, private equity\, and venture capital. \nThe workshop gave an insight into how fintech has not only redefined the dynamics of economic order but is also thriving and robustly dominating the global stratosphere. While the rest of the world is swiftly adapting to the phenomenon of Fintech; yet\, it is still an alien concept to the masses of Pakistan. However\, the workshop intended to take a step in changing this prevalent narrative. \nThe fundamental concept of FinTech\, its economic\, socio-cultural\, and political implications\, and its future in Pakistan were some of the predominant themes of the session. \nIndeed the workshop served as an exclusive opportunity for our students to maneuver in the direction of adapting\, growing\, and excelling in the inevitable future of the digital financial system. \n  \n

Key speakers of the events were; H.E Mr. Khazar Fardohv\, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Pakistan\, Mr. Khusro Pervez Khan\, Head of Campus\, SZABIST\, Islamabad\, Ambassador Nadeem Riyaz; President of Institute of Regional Studies\,Dr. Taraq Waheed Khan: Head of Social Sciences department. SUMMARY:Career Fair 2022 at SZABIST Islamabad
DESCRIPTION:On January 11\, 2022\, the SZABIST\, Islamabad hosted the Career Fair 2022. The event drew around 50 well-known national and multinational corporations. The goal of this event was to connect students with companies from various organizations in order to discuss internship and job prospects. Participating organizations were also able to interact with young\, energetic people and present themselves as preferred employers at the recruitment expo. The students who attended the job fair praised the EDC for providing them with unprecedented exposure and an engaging opportunity to speak with Pakistan’s major organizations. \n  \n \n

Shazia Hassan Assistant Professor NDU\, Islamabad shared her views on HR in the academic world and emphasized teaching both hard and soft skills to the students for meeting the future careers.\n\n\nRaja Danish Nadeem Associate Director\, Commercial Finance Data Governance. He talked about the importance of inclusion and diversity as its presence makes the employees feel more engaged and contribute to the organization’s business results.\n\n\nDr. Moin Uddin\, Ph.D.\, PMP Corporate Director of Human Resources & Organization Development at Tourism Promotion Services (Pakistan) Limited had a word on Corporate ethics in HRM as the ethical behavior of managers helps to determine what is right and what is wrong.\n\n\nThe chief guest Professor Dr. M. Asif Khan the Head of Management Department appreciated the contribution of panelists for sharing their valuable time and knowledge and distributed the certificates and souvenirs to the guests. The main objective of the activity was to revamp the HRM image for students through the experience of industry and academia.

Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Shazia Akhtar and mentorship of Ms. Rubina- faculty sports was the star event indeed.\nIt continued throughout the three days of MBA Fest. From janitorial staff\, teachers\, students- everyone across the hierarchy bonded and exhibited incredible team play.\nFaculty from all departments projected remarkable sportsmanship.\nChess\, table tennis\, tug of war\, race\, cricket\, musical chairs were so many sports included in the ambit of Faculty Sports.

SUMMARY:Power Talk at SZABIST Islamabad
DESCRIPTION:     \nOn 15TH December 2021\, the MBA fest was precluded by the first event called: Power Talk. Power Talk was based on the format of Ted Talk. Under the presence of Program Manager Prof. Dr. Shazia Akhtar\, faculty members\, and guest speaker Dr. LAKS- three students from the MBA department delivered sterling talks. \n  \nFollowed by the exulting talks of our three wonderful speakers\, Szabist Islamabad was graced by the presence of a guest motivational speaker who injected every member of the audience with bolting confidence and esteem. Dr. LAKS effortlessly snapped us out of our auto-pilot thought pattern. In a matter of mere 45 minutes he sparked the fire of ambition and self-worth in the audience. Hence\, as a result of the Power Talk- the audience was left with feelings of exhilaration and excitement. The first event of the MBA fest was an interactive experience where the students were given a rare platform to share their view on life\, existence\, education.

SUMMARY:National Action Plan on Business Human Rights\, MBA Revamped Program- SZABIST Islamabad
DESCRIPTION:                                                           \n  \nUnder MBA revamped program a lecture on National Action Plan on Business Human Rights was organized for the students of the first and second semester on the 22nd of November 2021. National Action Plan on Business Human Rights has lately been approved by the Federal Cabinet it is focused on the assurance of BHR through a transparent and Inclusive process of stakeholders including business entities\, employees\, labor unions\, government stakeholders\, etc. Business and Human Rights (BHR) is the premise that any form of corporate activity should not occur at the expense of fundamental human rights. Businesses can have both positive and negative impacts on human rights through the improvement of living standards and through the displacement of communities or discriminatory practices against workers respectively. Students found the seminar very interesting and critically engaged with the guest speaker and raised very interesting and practical questions. The guest speaker was the focal person for BHR at the MoHR.
