DESCRIPTION:Skin Care Awareness Seminar\n\n\n\nGood health and self-esteem go hand-in-hand during the process of exercising and establishing good health habits. Having healthy skin is a step to confidence. SZABIST recognizes physical and mental health and well-being and aims to facilitate improvements in many areas that positively impact well-being. Ms. Amber Gillani ( Social Sciences department) arranged a seminar on 23rd February 2023 by Dr. Eram Yasir who is an aesthetic physician\, laser specialist\, and health wellness coach associated with Cosmetic Laser and Skin Clinic (CLSC). She collaborated with SZABIST Islamabad through an interactive session with students\, staff\, and faculty of campus highlighting how to improve skin and become more aware of skin conditions. The session also emphasized procedures that can be done to improve skin for optimal use and factors affecting the well-being of skin in improving daily routine. Students got skin assessments and discussed issues related to skin.

It challenges teams to apply their business acumen to a simulated business scenario. This year’s competition was intense\, with teams from all over the country vying for the top spot. The BSAF SZABIST Islamabad team has emerged as the champions of the prestigious CIMA Business Game Competition 2023. The SZABIST team has fought hard against some of the best teams in Islamabad\, and we are proud to have come out on top. However\, the BSAF SZABIST Islamabad team’s hard work\, dedication\, and strategic thinking have paid off.\n\n\n\n\n\nOur amazing team members gave their unwavering commitment and hard work\, and guidance and support of our faculty members throughout the competition. Without their tireless efforts and expertise\, we could not have achieved this remarkable feat.\n\n\n\n\n\nWinning this competition has been a tremendous achievement for us\, and it is a testament to our dedication and hard work. We look forward to more challenges\, and we are excited to see what the future holds for our team.

DESCRIPTION:Student Ambassador Ceremony\n\n\n\nSZABIST has a continuous tradition of supporting the welfare organizations involved in the well-being of society. Carrying this legacy of promoting the social cause\, the Social Responsibility Society of SZABIST Islamabad Campus participated in the Student Ambassador Ceremony of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH&RC) on Saturday\, 11th February 2023 at SZABIST Islamabad Campus. The main objective of the ceremony was to give the students representatives of several universities and colleges of Rawalpindi & Islamabad including BBA graduates of SZABIST Islamabad Campus a hands-on experience to develop their leadership and interpersonal skills required for social responsibility programs of Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH&RC). The Territory Manager of Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH&RC) Mr. Younas Awan threw light on the social contribution of the research center for cancer control and Mr. Syed Shahwar Hussain the Head of Entrepreneurship and Development Center of SZABIST Islamabad addressed the students and presented the shield to the best performers of 2022.

DESCRIPTION:Fireside Chat Session\n\n\n\nMuhammad Ali Khan from management sciences has organized an event invited Miss Samia Qamar (Director People\, S&P Global) Mr. Shoaib Farooqi (Manager at Al-Masood Energy)\, and Mr. Danish Nadeem (Entrepreneur) from the industry in a fireside chat session which was moderated by Dr. Shazia Akhter (PM-MBA) on the topic “Gender Empowerment and the future of work”. The term “Empowerment” was the subject of much discussion\, despite its narrow definition in the modern context. It can be viewed as a means by which individuals\, particularly women\, can gain and exercise control over how they make decisions or oppose the decisions made about them by others. The panelist also tied it to broader shifts in society\, the economy\, and technology\, thereby setting the stage for businesses to prepare for and adapt to the impact of these changes in the workplace. The students took an active role by asking questions of the authorities. The takeaway message was that governments\, businesses\, and individuals face complex challenges as they try to address issues of gender empowerment and predict the future of work in the face of unexpected drivers of change.

DESCRIPTION:War of Strategy – MBA Fest 2.0\n\n\n\nUnder the supervision of Dr. Shazia Akhtar (program manager MBA and chief organizer of the event)\, Dr. Zoya Wajid Satti and Dr. Arusa Khalid students of MBA analyzed the international brands’ strategies. International business strategy refers to plans that guide commercial transactions taking place between entities in different countries. Global Strategy is when an organization treats the world as one market and one source of supply with little local variation\, which they believe maximizes global efficiency. The students examined different brands\, identified their problems\, and recommended solutions to these problems. There were two judges Dr. Saqib and Sir Danish to evaluate different groups. They appraised students’ presentations and gave valuable feedback to the students.

Students applied several unique supply chain and logistics strategies to promote their business ideas. Furthermore\, students also displayed Documentaries of their proposed businesses. Chief Guest Dr. Shumaila Zeb (Associate Professor & Program Manager BBA) inaugurated the event. She visited all stands and highly appreciated the efforts of the students. Various faculty members and a large number of university students from different disciplines attended the event. The purpose of the event was to reflect on the significance of supply chain\, logistics\, and distribution in the modern business world. Dr. Muhammad Asif (Dean & HOD Management Sciences) conveyed sincere appreciation and gratitude to all the students. DESCRIPTION:Seminar on ‘Neglected Cultural Heritage’\n\nA seminar on ‘Neglected Cultural Heritage’ took place in SZABIST Islamabad on January 03\, 2023. The Department of Social Sciences and Management Sciences arranged this under the supervision of Dr. Rashida Quershi and Ma’am Asma Javed. Students from BSSS and BBA gave enlightening presentations on numerous Neglected Heritage Sites and Buildings which enhanced the knowledge of everyone.\n\n\nThe honorable chief guest Professor Dr. Samra M Khan graced the event. She has worked as a professional architect since 1987 and as an academic since 2005. She was the founding director of the National College of Arts\, Rawalpindi\, and worked at COMSATS University Islamabad as a Professor and Dean of Faculty. Her portfolio of work includes various international and national projects in Pakistan and the UK.\n\n\nShe explained a number of ways how we can preserve our cultural heritage sites and why this is significant. Dr. Samra also enlightened students about their responsibilities as citizens and highlighted the way collaboration between social sciences and management sciences can be immensely fruitful toward the restoration of our cultural heritage.

Dr. Usman Shakoor is a seasoned professional and expert in the field of data compiling and analysis for social scientists. He has more than 15 years of experience in report writing\, data analysis\, and academia. The trainer gave an informative and comprehensive session on entire data compilation and analysis procedure with examples and demonstration.

DESCRIPTION:MBA FEST 2.0 \nOne of the most happening events of Fall 2022 started from 30th December 2022 till\, 31st December 2022 under the mentorship and leadership of Prof. Dr. Shazia Akhtar. Munsif Laghari and his team of the MBA Club were able to score a Success by executing an efficacious event. This historic 2 day-long event was full of fun activities for everyone at SZABIST Islamabad Campus.  It was a glimmering highlight of the festival. Day 01 of Sports activities kicked off with lively competitions for faculty\, students and staff.

DESCRIPTION:Power Talk – MBA Fest 2\n\n\n\nContinuing the legacy of the previous year’s MBA Fest\, and inspired by TED Talk\, MBA fest 2.0 started with the event Power Talk on 31st December 2022. Under the mentorship of Dr. Arusa Khalid\, students delivered motivational speeches. The objective of POWER TALK was to motivate students so that they could work with zeal\, initiative\, interest\, and enthusiasm. Social media influencer and entrepreneur Ms. Rumsha Saad Rabbani was invited as a guest speaker and applauded students’ morale and POWER TALKS. Dr. Shazia Akhtar (program manager MBA and chief organizer of the event) conveyed sincere appreciation and gratitude to the guest speaker. In addition\, various faculty members and a large number of university students from different disciplines attended the event.

DESCRIPTION:Cook Off- A cooking competition\n\n\n\nOn 30th December 2022\, a cooking competition named COOK-OFF was held under the supervision of Dr. Arusa Khalid. Ten teams from various departments participated and took a 90-minute cooking challenge. The menu consisted of a welcome drink\, starter\, main course\, and dessert. The panel of judges included Ms. Zeenat Ayesha (CEO\, Pappasallis)\, Vineta Dastoor (Food and Beverage Manager Marriott Islamabad)\, Ioannis Kritikos (Executive Chef Marriott Islamabad). The event ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Shazia Akhtar (Program Manager MBA and Chief Organizer) and a shield distribution ceremony.

Mr. Osama Farooqi General Manager HR at Nayatel\, Pakistan\, addressed the students. He has vast experience of managing corporate HR functions and transforming traditional HR into digital HR.  Mr. Osama shared his views on the importance of professional work ethics required from business graduates. He stressed the students on character building and developing the traits like honesty\, trustworthiness\, transparency\, accountability\, confidentiality\, respect\, obedience to the law\, and loyalty besides knowledge and skills before entering into their professional lives. The session was moderated by Dr. Iffat Rasool Associate Professor SZABIST Islamabad.

Mr. Zaka Ul Mustafa\, Co-Founder and Director\, Leverify LLC in Pakistan and USA addressed the students and shared his entrepreneurial journey. He highlighted the various applications and benefits of having an entrepreneurial mindset. He further explained how entrepreneurs think and act and how the entrepreneurial mindset can help business graduates to stay one step ahead of the game. \nThe Dean and HOD Department of Management Sciences SZABIST Islamabad Professor Dr. M Asif Khan thanked the guest speaker at the end of the session. He presented him the shield as a token of appreciation. Students also asked questions to develop their understanding for entrepreneurial success. Dr. Iffat Rasool Associate Professor moderated the session.

Mr. Syed Shahwar Hussain supervised the visit of the headquarters of “PTV News” for the students enrolled in the course of “Media Management”. This provided a deep understanding of the media startups\, electronic media\, planning\, operation\, execution\, and management of their news content.\n\n\n\nMr. Hassan Butt\, PRO organized the information session\, and Mr. Abdullah Baloch\, Controller of Current Affairs at PTV News arranged the trip. The team briefed about the working of different media organizations\, regulatory affairs\, and the changing dynamics of media trends along with the question and answer session.

DESCRIPTION:The Department of Management Sciences under the ZAB Entrepreneurship Week\, Fall 2022 organized the business plan competition “ZAB Maverick” .Under the supervision of Dr. Saqlain Raza\, M/s Saima Saleem\, and Mr. Shahid Jahangir Raja this event took place. The Students of BBA organized and participated in the event. A business Plan is one of the major tools for starting out with entrepreneurship. It provides a promotional platform for creating student awareness\, real role models\, and institutional engagement. Students presented their ideas in Groups in front of Industry experts and Entrepreneurs. The guests applauded the efforts of the students. They also praised SZABIST for conducting business plan competitions like these that play an active role in sharpening the entrepreneurial mindset in the students.

DESCRIPTION:Workshop on Emotional Intelligence\n\n\n \n\n\nEmotional Intelligence (EI) is the ability of understanding and manage one’s own emotions as well as of others. The literature on Emotional Intelligence (EI) suggests that 80 percent of success in the workplace depends upon it while IQ accounts for just 20 percent. Students also not only need Emotional Intelligence (EI) for future workplaces but also to bounce back in their academic excellence. \n\n\n \n\n\nSZABIST Islamabad is always concerned with students’ attitudes and behavior as it is a prior need of society and future jobs. Emotional Intelligence (EI) can help students to be mature and responsible professionals and citizens of the country. Thus\, the Department of Management Sciences SZABIST Islamabad arranged the workshop entitled “Emotional Intelligence” on Tuesday 27th December 2022 for the graduating students of BBA\, BSAF. The workshop was presented by Dr. Fatima Ashraf\, Assistant Professor SZABIST Islamabad. The workshop covered the essentials of emotional intelligence and its importance at the personal and institutional levels. The activity was moderated by Dr. Iffat Rasool Associate Professor SZABIST Islamabad.\n\n\n
