DESCRIPTION:Guest Speaker Session on Digital Marketing\, Challenges and Success in Business \nThe Department of Management Sciences at SZABIST University\, in collaboration with their course instructor\, Mr. Syed Shahwar Hussain\, orchestrated a Guest Speaker event on Digital Marketing on January 6th\, 2024. The target audience comprised MBA and EMBA students. \nThe session featured Mr. Kashif Joseph\, the CEO of SK Business Solution (a Digital Marketing and BPO company)\, and the former Head of Academics at the National Incubation Center\, Islamabad. The primary objective of the event was to cultivate the mental acumen of students by educating and involving them in digital marketing activities. These activities were envisaged to actively contribute to refining their understanding of contemporary marketing trends and elucidate how digital marketing could chart the course for business success. Furthermore\, the initiative aimed to enhance students’ capacity through experiential learning. \nThe guest speaker\, drawing on his industry expertise\, inspired the students by underscoring the imperative of digital marketing. He urged them to actively engage in skill-building activities\, emphasizing their role in contributing to overall development. He particularly encouraged participation in various competitions and stressed that such endeavors would fortify the connection between SZABIST Islamabad and external networks\, fostering collaboration and enriching the students’ educational experience.

DESCRIPTION:Innovation Gala – BBA Experiential Learning Activity\n\n\n\nDepartment of Management Sciences in collaboration with SZABIST Administration organized Sales Gala on 06th Jan\, 2024. Students of BBA (Marketing / Supply Chain Management) exhibited 30 stands relating to assigned innovative business projects. Students applied several unique product innovation/marketing and sales strategies to promote their business ideas. Furthermore\, students were able to effectively carry out operations\, and earned fair profits by selling unique products & services. Students also displayed self-made Advertisements along with Business Models of their proposed businesses.\n\n\nThe event was attended by various faculty members and a large number of university students from different disciplines. The purpose of the event was to reflect on the importance of realistic sales\, promotions\, supply operations\, customer value propositions\, and customer development in the modern business world.\n\n\nDr. Shazia (HOD Management Sciences) and Dr. Shumaila Zeb (Associate Professor & Program Manager BBA) highly appreciated the efforts of the students. The event was conducted under the supervision of course instructor Mr. Omer Ijaz.

The educational trip was to provide a platform for our business students to gain a deep understanding of the Business Startups. Their planning\, operations\, execution\, and management of the brand and how startups manage their brand w.r.t marketing\, sales\, operations\, demand\, forecasting\, distribution\, supply chain\, and finances. \nThe information session and visit were organized by M/s Ponam Kumari\, Head of Marketing\, and Mr. Ahsan Raza Seller Retention and Marketing Manager. DESCRIPTION:Research Poster Competition\n\n\n\nThe Department of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence at SZABIST University\, Islamabad\, held the “3rd Research Poster Competition Fall 2023” on the 4th of January 2024. In the event\, the students of MS Data Science program presented their research posters based on their semester projects.\n\n\n\nThe jury team at the event comprised Dr. Qamar Abbas\, a senior faculty member at the Department of Computer Science\, International Islamic University\, Islamabad and Dr. Azhar Imran Mudassir\, faculty member at the Faculty of Computing and AI\, Air University\, Islamabad. The jury team appreciated the great work done by the MS Data Science students. Cash prizes were presented to the top three performing contestants and all the participating students received certificates for their valuable contributions.\n\n\n\nThe event was a great opportunity for the students to polish their skills to present their research findings at future national and international conferences.

The activity was conducted by MS Sana Mukhtar \,an academician\, psychologist\, and trainer. Through interactive sessions\, case studies\, and role-playing exercises\, the trainer gave a comprehensive understanding of conflict dynamics and equipped the participants with practical skills to manage disputes in diverse organizational settings.\n\n\n\nThe coordinator Dr Iffat Rasool\, Associate Professor SZABIST University Islamabad\, and the participants expressed a heightened appreciation for the practical insights and strategies shared by the trainer during the workshop.

DESCRIPTION:Experiential Learning Activity – visited Dubai Islamic Bank\n\n\nAs part of the Experiential Learning Activity\, students of BSAF-5 visited Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB)\, I-8 Markaz Branch under the kind supervision of Dr. Sanaullah Ansari on Tuesday\, 2 January 2024. The purpose of this visit was to get practical knowledge of the Islamic Banking System and Islamic Banking Products which they already have studied in their subject “Islamic Banking and Finance”. Mr. Anwar Ali Gondal\, Branch Manager DIB\, and the entire staff of the branch gave detailed briefings and presentations to discuss Islamic Banking Products. Students asked so many questions related to the knowledge that they already have acquired in their subject by their teacher\, Dr. Sanaullah Ansari. Students also visited all departments of the bank and learned the practical aspects of bank operations.\n\n\nAt the end of the visit\, Dr. Sanaullah Ansari thanked Mr. Anwar Ali Gondal and his entire team for giving their precious time on the first working day of the new financial year.

The seminar covers various topics\, including the fundamentals of AI in writing\, tools used in AI related to technical writing\, and also the AI detection tools discussed. Participants also learn about the ethical considerations and potential challenges associated with AI in writing. \nMr. Aaqib Javed provides practical examples and hands-on exercises to ensure that participants can apply their newfound knowledge effectively. By the end of the seminar\, attendees have a solid foundation in AI-powered technical and business writing\, enabling them to produce compelling and accurate content in their professional endeavors. \nThe QEC and research students thank Mr. Aaqib Javed from Jazz’s Specialist RAN Optimization for delivering an insightful session. The session covered basic to advanced aspects of React JS\, providing participants with valuable hands-on experiences.\n\n\nDatacamp Ambassador Mr. Muhammad Talha conducted a session on Datacamp\, offering insights and useful techniques for tool usage and report generation. The students marveled at the intricately carved sculptures\, relics\, and archaeological wonders that echoed tales of bygone eras. \n\nSubsequently\, our visit to Dharmarajika\, an ancient Buddhist stupa\, provided a serene contrast to the bustling museum. The site resonated with spirituality\, and students immersed themselves in understanding the profound influence of Buddhism in the region. The trip was not merely a sightseeing endeavor but a holistic learning experience that left an indelible mark on both the minds and hearts of the students\, fostering a deeper appreciation for our rich cultural heritage.

Lines starting from procurement\, manufacturing\, packaging till distribution network design. They also briefed students about their research process and how they use innovative techniques to be able to sustain in the market. During high-tea there was an interactive session with students where students put their queries and discuss contemporary tools and techniques of Qarshi Industry. SZABIST University appreciate their time\, cooperation and hospitality. Mr. M. The emphasis was on understanding root causes\, and importantly\, devising solutions for these problems using a self-help approach for the betterment of the youth and Pakistani society.\n\n\nStudents of Social Advocacy BBA 6\, led by Dr Iffat Rasool\, participated in the activity as well. The activity took place on December 20th and 23rd\, 2023. This activity was conducted under the supervision of their instructor\, Dr Fatima Ashraf.

The objectives were: \n\nHave a working knowledge of the building blocks\, major functions\, major business processes\, and major decisions (strategic\, tactical\, and operational) in a flour mill.\nHave a sound understanding of planning\, design\, develop and implement\, manage and monitor supply chain operations in technically optimized and commercially viable operations.\n\nStudents appreciated the tour as they learned in a practical environment. Students wished that more trips should be planned in the future as well.

DESCRIPTION:On December 5\, 2023\, a seminar was organized by the BBA and BSAF departments\, focusing on financial management and specifically addressing investment appraisals using real-time data from the Pakistan Stock market. Instructors from both programs explained the fundamentals of risk-return principles in stock investments\, incorporating hands-on practice with Excel tools. They applied financial theories like the Capital Asset Pricing Model and Fama and French Three-Factor Model to evaluate stock overpricing and underpricing\, guiding students in making well-informed investment decisions. The Financial Management students expressed satisfaction in witnessing these concepts in action in the local stock market\, acknowledging the valuable guidance provided for this practical learning opportunity in finance.
