DESCRIPTION:SDPI for an Enlightening Session on Sustainability – Visit \nOn 31st December 2024\, under the esteemed supervision of Dr. Iffat Rasool the students from the Department of Management Sciences\, BBA 3\, and BSAF 2 & 4 at SZABIST University Islamabad\, had the privilege of attending an insightful session hosted by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI). \nThe session titled “Survival of the Greenest and the Implications for Pakistan’s Economy” was led by Dr. Amir Lebdioui\, Associate Professor and Director of the Technology and Industrialization for Development (TIDE) at the University of Oxford\, UK. \nDr. Lebdioui shared his groundbreaking research on sustainability\, shedding light on the critical need for resource conservation and addressing environmental challenges. He emphasized how green policies and innovative industrial practices can transform Pakistan’s economy\, paving the way for sustainable growth and eco-friendly industrialization. \nThis visit aimed to foster awareness among students about the importance of environmental protection and equip them with the knowledge to contribute meaningfully to a sustainable future. \n

This activity aimed to equip students with essential research and communication skills while addressing critical global and local health issues. \nAs part of the initiative\, students developed comprehensive reports enriched with accurate statistics\, figures\, and visuals from fieldwork. They also created visually compelling posters and delivered impactful awareness sessions to local communities on topics such as diabetes\, various types of hepatitis\, dissociative disorders\, nutritional benefits\, vitamins\, and climate change. \nThe activity fostered students’ abilities to conduct in-depth research\, analyze data\, and present findings effectively. It also strengthened their confidence in public speaking and professional report writing\, enabling them to combine creativity with analytical rigor. By participating in this initiative\, students not only enhanced their academic and professional competencies but also contributed to raising awareness of pressing health and environmental challenges. \n

DESCRIPTION:Industrial Visit \nDr. Sanaullah Ansari arranged an industrial visit for the students of EMBA-2 and MBA-2 as part of the Experiential Learning Activity on Saturday\, 28 December 2024. Students visited Gunj Glass Works\, Hassan Abdal which is a leading glass factory in Pakistan. The Operations Manager briefed the whole production process and costing methods to the students. \nMany questions were asked by the students which were well answered by him. Later\, students visited production departments and observed the complex process of glassware manufacturing where detailed briefing was also provided by the relevant managers. \nFinally\, Dr. Sanaullah Ansari presented the SZABIST Shield to the host and they presented their gift packs to all students\, in return. \n

DESCRIPTION:Forensic Psychology Students Visit to the Ministry of Human Rights – Child Protection Institute \nOn 26 December 2024\, as part of an academic exploration\, we had the opportunity to visit the Ministry of Human Rights’ Child Protection Bureau. During the visit organized by Dr Abdur Rashid\, the students of Clinical Psychology were given an overview of the ministry’s functions\, their achievements\, and future plans. \nThe session was highly engaging and offered valuable insights into their efforts to address critical societal issues.The participants were encouraged to share their perspectives and engage in\nmeaningful dialogue. The representatives were open to addressing their queries on topics such as child abuse\, domestic violence\, the rights of the transgender community\, and minority rights. This visit not only enriched their understanding of the ministry’s pivotal role in safeguarding human rights but also aligned seamlessly with the topics covered in the Forensic Psychology course. Ms. Farah\, a seasoned content writer and a professional expert in the fields of communication and digital marketing\, shared her thoughts as the speaker for this session. She talks about how media allows young people to explore and define their identities. They can engage with content that resonates with their interests\, beliefs\, and values. Ms Mahrukh Aziz shared the details of harassment laws and FOSPAH’s role in ensuring justice and provided step-by-step guidance on filing complaints and navigating the grievance process.\n\n\n\nThe session was organized by Dr. Shumaila Zeb in coordination with the students of BBA-8 A and Dr. Iffat Rasool\, Head of the Community Services and Social Responsibility Society. Students observed professionals in action through the Job Shadowing concept\, linking academic knowledge with practical execution. \nThrough this visit\, students developed a deeper appreciation for the role of project managers\, learned how project management tools and techniques are applied in operational settings\, and witnessed the implementation of risk management processes in real-world scenarios. This hands-on exposure bridged the gap between classroom concepts and professional practices\, enhancing their understanding of large-scale project execution. \nSpecial thanks to the competent authorities for making this enriching experience possible and for their continuous support for such events. The event was jointly organized by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP)\, the Islamic Development Bank\, Saudi Arabia\, and the Accounting & Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI)\, Bahrain. This was a mega event in Islamic Finance and focused on the growth of this industry worldwide and the conversion of the existing conventional financial system to the Islamic financial system in Pakistan by the end of 2027. \nIslamic Finance experts\, scholars\, and practitioners from Pakistan\, Malaysia\, Saudi Arabia\, Iran\, Bahrain\, Nigeria\, UK\, Turkey\, and UAE participated in this event and shared their fruitful thoughts. \n
