SUMMARY:Faculty Capacity Building Session on Mixed Methods and Qualitative Research Held at SZABIST Islamabad
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Management Sciences at SZABIST University Islamabad successfully conducted a faculty capacity building session on “Mixed Methods and Qualitative Research” on Thursday\, as part of the Faculty Capacity Building Program 2026. \nThe session was conducted by Dr. Madiha Gohar from NUST Business School\, who shared valuable insights into contemporary mixed-methods and qualitative research approaches. The session provided faculty members with an opportunity to strengthen their understanding of research methodologies and explore approaches that can support rigorous and meaningful academic research. \nThe training focused on enhancing faculty members’ research capabilities and developing a deeper understanding of methodological approaches that can be applied across diverse research contexts. The session also encouraged academic discussion and knowledge sharing\, providing participants with valuable perspectives for strengthening their ongoing and future research work. \nThe initiative was organized by the Department of Management Sciences under the leadership of Professor Dr. Shazia Akhtar\, Head of the Department of Management Sciences. The program reflects the Department’s continued commitment to faculty development\, research excellence\, and the promotion of a strong research-oriented academic culture. \nThrough faculty capacity building initiatives such as this\, SZABIST Islamabad continues to invest in professional development and equip its faculty with contemporary research knowledge and methodological expertise\, ultimately contributing to stronger academic outcomes and a more impactful research environment. \n

SUMMARY:SZABIST Islamabad Participates in SDPI Seminar on Indus Waters Treaty and Hydro-Diplomacy
DESCRIPTION:SZABIST University Islamabad participated in the seminar “A Treaty in Turbulence: Indus Waters Treaty\, Hydro-Diplomacy and Regional Peace\,” organized by the Strategic Development Policy Institute (SDPI) and held in Islamabad. The seminar provided an important platform for discussing emerging challenges related to water governance\, regional stability\, and Pakistan’s water security. \nThe seminar brought together experts and participants to examine key issues surrounding the Indus Waters Treaty\, with discussions focusing on water security\, climate resilience\, transboundary water governance\, hydro-diplomacy\, and their implications for regional peace. \nRepresenting SZABIST Islamabad were Mr. Hasher Hanif\, Mr. Ahmad Raza Ali\, and Dr. Muhammad Daniel Pirzada\, Faculty Advisor of the Environment & Climate Change Society. Their participation provided an opportunity to engage with experts and gain broader perspectives on critical environmental and geopolitical issues affecting Pakistan and the region. \nThe discussions offered valuable insights into the evolving dynamics of Pakistan’s hydro-diplomacy and the challenges posed by increasing water stress\, climate change\, and transboundary water management. The seminar also highlighted the importance of informed dialogue\, research\, and collaborative approaches in addressing complex regional water security concerns. \nSZABIST Islamabad’s participation reflects its commitment to encouraging students and faculty to engage with contemporary environmental\, policy\, and regional issues beyond the classroom. Such engagements contribute to experiential learning and help develop a deeper understanding of the interconnected challenges of climate change\, water resources\, governance\, and regional peace. \nThrough participation in knowledge-sharing platforms and policy-oriented discussions\, SZABIST continues to promote research\, environmental awareness\, interdisciplinary learning\, and responsible engagement with national and global challenges.

SUMMARY:Vice Chancellors and Rectors Meet in Islamabad to Strengthen Higher Education Collaboration
DESCRIPTION:An important monthly meeting of Vice Chancellors and Rectors of federal universities and higher education institutions in Islamabad and Rawalpindi was held at Air University\, Islamabad\, bringing together senior academic leadership to discuss key priorities\, emerging challenges\, institutional development\, and opportunities for greater collaboration across Pakistan’s higher education sector. \nThe meeting was attended by Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan\, Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar\, S.I.\, as Chief Guest\, accompanied by senior HEC officials\, including Dr. Shafiq ur Rehman\, Dr. Nasir Mahmood\, and Dr. Habib Boukhari. The gathering provided an important platform for university leaders and higher education policymakers to exchange perspectives on strengthening the country’s academic ecosystem. \nAir Marshal (R) Abdul Moeed Khan\, HI(M)\, Vice Chancellor of Air University\, welcomed the participating Vice Chancellors and Rectors and emphasized the importance of collective efforts\, knowledge sharing\, and stronger institutional collaboration in addressing emerging challenges and promoting academic excellence. \nDuring the interactive session\, university leaders discussed several key areas\, including quality assurance\, research and innovation\, inter-university collaboration\, institutional governance\, and academic excellence. Participants emphasized the importance of sharing expertise\, resources\, and best practices among higher education institutions and explored opportunities for joint initiatives aimed at improving educational standards and fostering sustainable academic growth. \nAs part of the gathering\, participants also visited the Cyber Security Centre at Air University\, where they received a briefing on the Centre’s activities\, capabilities\, and initiatives in cybersecurity and emerging technologies. The visit highlighted the growing importance of technological innovation and cybersecurity expertise within Pakistan’s higher education landscape. \nA significant highlight of the meeting was the official launch of the Young CEOs\, Entrepreneurs and Innovators Summit\, Expo & Awards 2026 by Chairman HEC Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar\, alongside Vice Chancellors\, Rectors\, and members of the organizing committee. The Summit is scheduled for 15–16 October 2026 at Bahria University Islamabad and follows recommendations from the 6th International Students Convention & Expo. \nThe upcoming Summit aims to promote entrepreneurship\, innovation\, leadership\, and industry-academia linkages among young people\, creating opportunities for emerging entrepreneurs\, innovators\, and future leaders to connect with academia and industry. \nThe meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation among universities and collectively contributing to human capital development\, academic excellence\, innovation\, entrepreneurship\, and Pakistan’s socio-economic and national development.
