Sports Gala 2013 held at Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) Islamabad campus brought to light some interesting trends and experiences as the male students suffered defeat at the hands of female students who have usually considered weak in sports.

The Sports Gala with the theme "This is it" was organized with an aim to provide students of various disciples an opportunity to think beyond academic theories and explore their individual talent in a practical way.

The event featured fun activities such as cricket, ludo, chess ,football, badminton, volley ball, table tennis and basket ball which the students demonstrated and received a great deal of applause from audience.

What is more interesting is that the tow-day event saw female students knocking out the male ones in cricket, badminton, volley ball and table tennis competitions.

The students, around one hundred in number belonged to Management Sciences, Social Sciences, Computer Sciences and Media Sciences from bachelor to phd level participated in the event .Two teams were constituted (each having fifty students) bringing female students against the male students.

The results of the competition proved that each student has his/her own unique capabilities which can be proven by providing equal opportunities and showcasing their skills.

A student of Computer Sciences Fatima Ali who is among the winners said "I always found science subjects hard to study and have been failing in different subjects like Research Methodology, Multivariate Calculus and Digital Logic, but this sports gala provided a platform to me where I could demonstrate my skills and boost my self confidence. After taking part in a competitive sport, I feel good knowing the hard work paid off".

On the other hand the male students who lost in the competition said that "There are many lessons in sports, learning to handle defeat is one of them. It's good for character building. We had never expected to be knocked out by the female students and were thus underestimating their talent. "said Muhammad Faizan a student of MBA.
