"From Oxford Girl To BB Shaheed" play staged at SZABIST to mark her 6th death anniversary

Apparently delicate looking 'Pinky' was actually an iron-willed lady and that is why despite of facing so many tragedies in life including, hanging of her father, mysterious death of her brother abroad, brutal murder of another brother in Karachi, helpless mother, Jailed husband, and eight years in exile away from the country could not weaken her mission.

This was the gist of stories shared by students during a stage play organized by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science & Technology (SZABIST) Islamabad to mark the 6th death anniversary of BB Shaheed, founding Chair person and former Chancellor of SZABIST.

Recalling courageous life and democratic achievements of the popular leader students put on stage a 60 -minute play named "From Oxford Girl To BB Shaheed". A drama capturing the epic tale of the life, career and assassination of Benazir Bhutto, who broke the glass ceiling as the first elected woman leader of Muslim world.

The event beside other activities featured documentary, debates and quran khawani to pay glowing tributes to BB Shaheed while remembering her services for the country and nation.

Students produced a 45-minute documentary named "Daughter of the nation" to highlight various aspects of Mohtarma's great personality and her incredible role in national politics which included different video packages on a variety of topics such as great sacrifices made by BB Shaheed, welfare of poor Pakistanis, struggle to restore democracy, and educational revolution in Pakistan.

Paying moving tributes to the two-time elected prime minister, students said only Benazir had the vision, competence and leadership qualities to steer Pakistan out of the present grave crisis. She was a tolerant leader and had full faith in democracy, an inspiring figure for the people desiring change in their lives, they added.

Director SZABIST Dr.RK Malik while addressing on the occasion said that the brave leader wanted to usher in an era of educational revolution in Pakistan. To achieve this objective, she added, BB established SZABIST which is now fulfilling her dream and carrying forward her mission of an educated nation.
