A Stroll to Remember; Anti-Smoking walk on-campus
An Anti-Smoking campaign was initiated by Ms. Sana Mukhtar (Faculty Social Sciences Department) to reiterate the need to alleviate the gravity of smoking. According to the experts of National Alliance for Tobacco Control (NATC), Aga Khan University (AKU) and the Pakistan Chest Society, every year tobacco kills nearly six million people in the world, of which more than 600,000 are non-smokers dying from passive smoking. In Pakistan, they say, an estimated 40 per cent males and nine per cent females are smokers and the number is increasing day by day.
The anti-smoking campaign served as a moral reminder to the students on-campus and the community as a whole to do away with smoking and the proliferation of information regarding the dire repercussions of smoking.
