Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of
Science and Technology (SZABIST) organized a Seminar on Recognizing &
Respecting Intellectual Property Rights in collaboration with Pakistan
Scientific & Technological Information Centre (PASTIC) and Intellectual
Property Organization (IPO).
Purpose of the Seminar was to raise the
level of Intellectual Property Rights awareness amongst students and
academia, to develop a strong research culture, characterised by
objectivity and originality, through creativity and responsibility.
Scholars, academicians and officials from
Government and private sector including Chairman Pakistan Science
Foundation, Dr Syed Azhar Hasan participated in the Seminar.
Speaking on the occasion, SZABIST Islamabad
Campus Head, Syed Asad Hussain has said that there was a need to
introduce the domain of Intellectual Property along with its segments
and contents, to create importance of Intellectual Property for academia
and Research.
He urged the audience to contribute towards
a society based on rights and respect by giving credit to people
striving to excel through hard work. He informed that SZABIST has
already been working with many government and private organizations to
promote a Research culture in the country.
Speakers from PASTIC and IPO also
highlighted the significance of Intellectual property rights, patents,
trade marks, copy rights and software related issues etc. In the end
Syed Asad Hussain had distributed shields among the participants.
